New 6UL finishes

Finishes for the upcoming (gen 4) 6UL production. All finishes are painted with clear coat over the face. Details below each pic.

Bronze is a gloss metallic finish. The idea was polished bronze, as opposed our previous "raw" bronze which was darker, matte and more brown. Distinguished from gold by the copper tint. Actual bronze is an alloy of copper and tin, hence the tint you see here.

Charcoal is 50% matte black. So shinier than flat black but not full gloss.

Tungsten is a gray metallic gloss. A bit on the warm side, not a cold gray like titanium. It is sort of like a much darker version of Nickel.

Silver is a traditional silver metallic gloss. Machined aluminum lip (not polished).

Nickel is a ultra high gloss and highly reflective bright silver, almost chrome like. Very blingy, almost mirror like reflection.

How does charcoal compare to the current black? Any chance of a glossier black?

Awesome information, Emilio. The 949 website also shows the finishes on wheels. Go to the 15x8 wheel and click the button for the finish you're interested in and the photo changes accordingly.

Question: Are those images of actual Gen4 wheels?

The pictures on this page are the most current, not the website. Read the descriptions below each image for details on each finish.

Yep, read that, but I'm hoping you can give a better comparison to the current black. Unless you meant that when you said "shinier than flat black."

Our new charcoal color is shinier than our previous black. We will have additional images and color samples before the wheels are available for purchase.

Man. I was all decided on getting nickel 15x7s next year. Then you went and added the tungsten option. I guess I've got a few months to decide.

How much lighter will the Gen4 be than the Gen3? I did read the page that suggested they'd be lighter, but I'm looking for something more definitive if possible.

We are providing weights for the wheels that are in production on our website. Specs on other sizes that may not yet be in production are TBD.

The folks at Flyin' Miata took some pictures of the Tungsten and Nickel side by side in bright daylight and also indoors. It illustrates how in bright light, the wto finishes appear almost the same. In lower light, the Tungsten reveals itself to be a much darker shade.

15x7 nickel on website?

Hey I was wondering why the webpage for 15x7 doesn't list nickel as an option at all? See: http://949racing.com/15x7-6UL.aspx

I get that they're slated for summer this year, but it's not clear to me why one of the finishes isn't listed. Is nickel not going to be produced for this size or something?

Replaced by the more popular Tungsten in some sizes.

May 2016 - Beryllium

We have just added this new finish. The first shipment with Beryllium wheels should be here June 2016. Silver is being discontinued.

As of now, the finishes are:

Beryllium
Charcoal
Tungsten
Bronze

There are still some Silver and Nickel wheels in stock with us and our dealers. If you want either of those, order no because when they are gone, that's it.

Why name it beryllium, might as well call it asbestos. BE is nasty stuff. That name just turns me off. Lots of sick friends with BE issues.
