I removed the baffles out of the Super-Q and within a few miles, the car starts bogging down at low RPM's, want to stall at red lights and has thick soot around the tailpipes. I drove it far enough for the ECU to adjust to the new conditions, but it never did.  It never threw any codes, just ran like sh*t!<br />
<br />
Reinstall the baffles and bam...the car runs like a champ, again.    Hard to believe that little amount of back pressure can make that big a difference.<br />
<br />
Did it go super lean or super rich?  The soot on the tailpipe would lead me to believe it went rich.   I just want to understand.</div>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>Lately I've noticed that my FM turbo has developed an unpleasant &quot;shrill&quot;/screeching noise only during boost, as if air were escaping closer to the driver's side (like a balloon letting out air). It is not a typical sound associated with the usual turbo spool-up sound. I have not noticed any drop in boost pressure (8 psi for the NC1) or any idling issues. In fact, the car seems to be driving completely fine despite this strange noise. Here is what I've done so far:<br />
<br />
1. I did a boost leak test to be sure, and a howling sound was heard at the EVAP purge valve. I thought the shrill noise would have went away after replacing this purge valve, however this didn't cure the issue.<br />
<br />
2. Smoke tested the car, no leaks found.<br />
<br />
3. Retightened all the clamps.<br />
<br />
4. Checked for turbo shaft play, none noted. Fins appear to be fine.<br />
<br />
5. Cleaned and re-lubed the diverter valve in case it was stuck open. No luck.<br />
<br />
This noise only started after I recently completed an oil change and replaced the turbo oil return 90° AN fitting that screws into the oil drain plug (replaced this AN fitting because it was leaking). I wonder if it had anything to do with this, though I'm not sure how it would be related to the problem I'm having. Does anyone have any idea what this noise could be caused by? :ohno:</div>

First, you should know my car has a 2.5 with 11.5:1 compression, GoodWin Racing RoadsterSport Headers without a CAT and RoadsterSport Mid-pip with a CAT.  (NOT the Helmholtz pipe). <br />
<br />
I previously had on the Street Single, too loud and drones alot without the baffle for me.  I ran it with the baffle 99% of the time and it was quiet enough and the drone was controlled sufficiently for me.<br />
<br />
Now the Rosso Modello.  It appears to be very well made.  Fitment is excellent. (Photos to follow. <br />
<br />
Appearance: I am not personally a fan of the oversized exhaust tip style or the colored exhaust tip styles.  That a personal preference and is a subjective style choice. <br />
<br />
Sound: Not quite as loud as the street single with the baffle in it.  Very street-able   even with my set-up.  I like the sound of it and their is little to no drone.  That's a win.<br />

So while I was running all these scenarios through grok/kimi I asked about awd plus 400hp ... first I asked about a Ford awd from a escape ... AI struck it down as impossible... so next option I tried was tesla SDU for front wheels but 300hp max won't match up with 400hp rear wheel drive ... plus the logistics of fitting the sdu would require moving steering and adding 600lbs of weight with battery <br />

Sooo I asked about the WRX STI  and while I will have to engineer  a custom subframe, it solves a few issues<br />
2004-2014 STI already have forged internals, 6spd transmission and diff capable of handling 400hp and 400 ftlb of torque... just need bigger turbo to boost from 305hp to 400hp<br />
<br />
So the subframe ... I asked AI about 3D scanning to plan the subframe and suspension as I also want to put fender flares and deep dish 17x9 <br />
<br />
Anyone familiar with 3D scanning or subframe customizing?<br />
<br />
Or know anyone that has attempted this crazy build?</div>

IT WAS AWESOME - For a Group - B rally car. NOT a street car of any sort. - Limitations with bell housings, limited undesirable clutch solutions and NVH being unacceptable. It was indeed completed and sold below cost to a customer of ours. That was when we moved on to 8HP research and development. <br />
<br />
<b>Meet the new guy, our 8HP test mule </b>- this is currently installed on our shop NC2, Scalpel 2.4L equipped, Fab9 EFR Bottom Mount turbocharged car producing 440whp. We had this car on display at MATG last week and the reactions were awesome. &quot;What the heck is that BMW shifter for?&quot;. <br />
<br />
These transmissions are incredibly robust and hold the characteristics of a performance oriented sequential transmission, minus all of the straight cut dog box gear noise that comes along with them. Imagine all of that cool gear slapping business and THEN you can flip it into &quot;Comfort mode&quot;. Drive it like a BMW 3 Series. <br />
<br />
There are a handful of end users out there who've completed the task and it's killer to see their use cases paying off nicely. We're tryin to offer that in a VERY PNP minimal modification kind of way. There are some critical flaws we've seen that vary between setups, primarily related to the transmission oil pan being the lowest point on the car after the installation is complete. The alignment also results in tweaked driveshaft flanges, firewall clearance and of course your new plastic oil pan being the first point of impact. <br />
<br />
<b>What's included in it's current configuration?</b><br />
- PNP Driveshaft that DOES NOT require output shaft modification<br />
- PPF 1/4&quot; Stainless Adapter Plate<br />
- 13 row heat exchanger<br />
- PNP BMW Shifter Assembly - Terminated with a 4 pin deutsch connector<br />
- OEM available Flex Plate and Starter that DOES NOT REQUIRE ENGINE MODIFICATION<br />
- CANTCU Controller W/PNP harness<br />

Hardware wise? Everything bolts up and kicks butt. It looks like it's meant to be there. From a software point, our only development is with our Haltech Nexus S2 PNP system. We've been working closely with Haltech and in partnership with CanTCU, some new firmware was just released to streamline the integration.  It's fantastic. <br />
<br />
Our next move and from our discussion with CanTCU, the factory ECU shouldn't have any major limitations outside of a nifty &quot;autoblip&quot; function that's not a requirement for functionality. <br />

The intake camshaft position sensor will randomly lose its signal/connection. The problem is intermittent but happens fairly frequently, which makes tracking the car out of the question. <br />

Has anyone with a K-swapped Miata experienced something similar? If so, what ended up being the cause? Sensor, connector/pins, wiring harness, power/ground, Haltech configuration, or something else?</div>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>Aye! I don't know how I forgot to announce it here but a few months ago I started working on a new application to replace ECU Flash and merge with it RomDrop natively, enters <a href="https://github.com/cdufresne81/nc-flash" target="_blank">NC Flash</a>. <br />

<b>Disclaimer</b>: This is a vibe coded application, I was a software engineer for 20+ years but I didn't look at a single line of code and that was the goal. That being said I think it performs really well, it's open source and free. The downside is that it doesn't come with any guarantee, use at your own risk.<br />

Now that I've scared you, I've probably flash my bench ECU well over a 100 times with it and my own car ECU a dozen times with no issue and there's probably a few dozens users who used it successfully so far.<br />

Almost like I’m listening to it from underwater. not what I was hoping for, <b>WAY </b>quieter then I would have ever imagined!<br />
<br />
What’s throwing me off is that when I added the same <b>G<b>WR</b> Race muffler</b> to my<b> ND3 RF</b>, it was an instant transformation. <b>Night and day. </b>The ND woke up immediately — <b>sharper, louder, more alive</b> — even with just the axle&#8209;back. So naturally I figured the NC would react the same way… but nope. Totally different personality.::mad::eek::(:cry:<br />
<br />
Now I’m beginning to suspect the NC PRHT is just a <b>quieter platform</b> overall. There’s more structure behind your head, more insulation, and the stock header + midpipe choke the tone before it even reaches the Race muffler. The ND has a freer&#8209;flowing upstream system and a cabin that resonates more, so it gets loud with way less effort.<br />
<br />
Which brings me to the big question:<br />
<br />
If I go full GWR header&#8209;back on the NC — long&#8209;tube headers, midpipe, Race muffler — will it finally wake up and get close to the loudness of my ND3 RF with all the bolt&#8209;ons?<br />
<br />
Because right now, with just the Race muffler, the NC sounds like it’s clearing its throat while the ND is out there singing opera:rofl:. I’m hoping once I free up the whole system, the NC will finally show some teeth.<br />
<br />
Curious what others have experienced — does the <b>NC only come alive once you replace everything upstream?</b></div>

Maybe there is new light on this now, especially since Romdrop has appeared along with several other tune options.  I am assuming it revolves around the facts of OBDii US standards and Euro standards.<br />
<br />
From what I could find the consensus is the Euro cars should in general out perform the US counterpart till around 2018.   Although the specs for the NC show US made about 10/12 more HP over the Euro 2.0?  Excluding the 1.8 Euro version from the comparison as US never got a 1.8L.<br />
<br />
If I stated something incorrect, please correct it.<br />
